"Storm"

Storm was rescued by Elizabeth, an affiliate volunteer near Jackson, MS, after he was orphaned during Hurricane Katrina. Initally quite frightened, Storm hid for almost two weeks before he would start getting in and out of his cage on his own. He became quite dependent upon bottle feeding, adding to the difficulty of returning him to the wild. Elizabeth had trouble weening him off the bottle as he was not interested drinking water on his own. Storm loves green beans, so he got those along with many other squirrel-nutritious foods that helped him grow strong. Eventually Storm learned to drink from a bowl, so was able to live on his own. Storm lives happily in the woods near Elizabeth's house, successfully returned to his wild home.
