MWR Volunteer Spotlight: Brett Hogan

Volunteers are the hands, feet, and heart behind Mississippi Wildlife Rehabilitation’s (MWR) mission. We simply couldn’t do what we do without their incredible dedication. Each month, we’re proud to spotlight one of the amazing people who help bring our work to life.

This month, we’re thrilled to recognize MWR Board Member Brett Hogan!

Brett began volunteering with MWR in 2020 (he thinks!).  In addition to serving as a Board Member he has supported the organization in countless ways, including:

  • Design and construction of wildlife enclosures
  • Education ambassador training and care
  • Wildlife rescue and transportation
  • Feeding and care of wildlife patients
  • Education programs
  • Serving as MWR’s primary IT support, including infrastructure setup, technical support, and website design and maintenance

As the husband of Wildlife Director Stephanie Hogan, Brett initially volunteered to support his wife—but he quickly became deeply invested in MWR’s mission. Brett shares that he “also cares deeply about the wildlife we help and our environmental impact.”

Fun Fact: Brett has lived in 24 different homes! In less than six months, Hernando, MS will become the place he’s lived the longest—currently, Goodyear, AZ still holds that title (for now).

🌿 Thank you, Brett, for your dedication, leadership, and behind-the-scenes impact that helps MWR thrive.

MWR is currently in need of dedicated volunteers to help in the following areas:
• Social Media Coordinator
• Wildlife Rehabilitation / Animal Care
• Baby Bird Care / Feeding (Spring & Summer)
• Education Programs
• Rehab Patient Transport
• Fundraising
